Sonja joined Mills & Mills LLP in 2019 as a LegalShield Associate.  Prior to joining LegalShield, Sonja practiced in the areas of personal injury, family, business and employment law.

Sonja derives genuine pleasure assisting people.  She enjoys the aspect of being a LegalShield Associate which allows her to help members in a timely manner. Sonja particularly enjoys coaching LegalShield members through their legal issues while assisting them in understanding the relevant laws and principles. Sonja finds it particularly rewarding when members have gained confidence and feel less apprehensive about dealing with their issues.

Prior to joining Mills & Mills LLP Sonja had her own family law practice.   She has extensive experience in child protection matters and provides guidance of what steps to take should the Children’s Aid Society become involved.

Sonja articled in personal injury law.  She also has experience in employment law, from both employer and employee perspective; and corporate law, particularly in the area of trademark laws, contracts and compliance.

Prior to attending law school Sonja moved up the ranks from legal assistant to law clerk and then trademark agent.  Her many years in law firms have given her wide exposure to a large number of issues which members may encounter in their lives. This experience has also provided her with the extensive background knowledge that helps her to clearly understand members’ issues and lead them in the right direction to resolution.

Sonja is fluent in French, and although not proficient to the level of translator, is pleased to offer francophone members some services in their first language.
