Jennifer chatted with Hilary Linton, president of Toronto Mediation Services, and mediator Jennifer Barkin on this episode of The Dish on Divorce. They chatted about the success of mediation, the process of getting started with it, and the various resources available for families to negotiate issues outside of the courtroom. Hilary mentioned that with the added stress of COVID-19, mediators are given an even larger role to help support clients doing through such tense situations.

Financial Statements in Divorce with Mark Harendorf

Leanne and Jennifer were joined by Mark Harendorf, a CDFA (Certified Divorce Financial Analyst). Mark’s job consists of working with lawyers to review the separation agreements of clients in order to provide a tax perspective and improve the agreement if needed. He discussed equalization payments, tax returns, and all things finance.

Leanne and Jennifer were joined by mortgage broker, Rino Balzano, who provides clients with mortgage solutions when they are buying a house or refinancing. She chatted about how her website, your-village.ca, along with her Facebook group, YourVillageInc, enforces the idea that single moms should form partnerships to help each other out. Through hosting workshops and meetups, Tanya works to empower single mothers.

Heather acts as a liaison between the client and their lawyer, helps clients put their divorce team together, and organizes all their documents and financial information.
